Lisztomania & Lasso

When someone you know recommends a band to you saying “hey, i really think you would like x” based off the music you and your friend have common interest already, I recommend you listen to that person because let’s face it; they know what they are talking about because they know you. My friend Farah told me over this past summer that she believed I would like the band “Phoenix”. Now, Farah and I don’t see eye-to-eye on all the music we listen to and for the most part our Itune libraries are very different but we do have some likes in common and based off those likes, she was positive I would like this band. Considering I trust her because she is one of my best friends I ran home and checked out Phoenix. And what do you know, I liked them and soon I was the owner of their CD. And since, by now I am consider you to be one of my friends I am going to let you in on a little secret — check out Phoenix.
Phoenix is an alternative band from Versailles, France made up of childhood pals Thomas Mars, Deck D’Arcy, Christian Mazzalai, and Laurent Brancowitz. The band started in 1999 as a backing band for a remix of Air’s “kelly Watch the Stars” and took off from there debuting their first album ‘United’ in 2000. Their second album titled ‘Alphabetical’ was release in 2004, which had allowed the band to progress and which gave them their first look at mainstream success. Their third album ‘Its Never Been Like That’ was recorded in Berlin in the Summer of 2005 and came out in 2006. Yes, the band does have three albums prior to the one I am sure you are all familiar with; their 2009 release of ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’ which has put them on the map here in the United States. In fact, just the other day I was shocked to hear 1901 on the commercial for the 2010 Cadillac SRX.
With four CDs under their belts and a little over 10 years of being together I think it’s safe to say that Phoenix is going places making them this weeks recommended band to watch. Check them out, you won’t regret it! And thank you Farah for getting me into them.
So here is another band that I’ve heard mentioned several times but I haven’t checked them out cause I’m a retard and I’m too lazy.
Honestly if it wasn’t for you I would keep listening to the same thing.
